Artissima is Italy’s most important contemporary art fair. Since its establishment in 1994, it has combined the presence of an international market with a focus on experimentation and research.
Galleries from around the world participate every year. In addition to the fair (Main Section, Monologue/Dialogue, New Entries, Art Spaces & Editions), Artissima is also composed of three curated sections, headed by a board of international curators and museum directors, devoted to emerging artists (Present Future), to the rediscovery of the pioneers of contemporary art (Back to the Future) and to the drawing (Disegni). The three curated sections will be hosted in the fair pavilion with monographic booths, and on the dedicated digital platform Artissima Voice Over with an indepth presentation.

Bauhaus Blues 2023
Scott Lawrie Gallery, Auckland, New Zealand
The Bauhaus era and the post-pandemic era in contemporary art are both marked by significant shifts in societal values and cultural attitudes. The Bauhaus era was characterised by a rejection of traditional art forms and a focus on creating functional, aesthetically pleasing objects that could be mass-produced. This emphasis on simplicity and the democratization of design had a profound impact on the development of modernist art and architecture. In the post-pandemic era, contemporary artists are grappling with the impact of the COVID- 19 pandemic and its aftermath. This has led to a renewed focus on themes related to isolation, loss, mental health and uncertainty, as well as a heightened awareness of global interconnectedness and the importance of community. The pandemic has also accelerated the adoption of digital technologies and online platforms for artistic expression, leading to new forms of virtual and augmented reality art.Overall, both the Bauhaus era and the post-pandemic era in contemporary art are marked by a willingness to challenge traditional forms and to embrace new technologies and perspectives.
“By reflecting on the aesthetic principles of the Bauhaus movement, I am drawing on a rich history of modernist art and design, and exploring the ways in which these principles continue to shape contemporary art. Additionally, by considering the historical significance of societal demographics, I am exploring the cultural context of the Bauhaus era, and the ways in which these demographics influenced the art and design of the time. This multilayered approach I hope will give my work depth and meaning, and help to explore complex themes and ideas.”
Mind Your Head 2022
Melbourne Art Fair, Finkelstein Gallery
Melbourne based artist Coady is presenting a unique selection of works collective called ‘Mind Your Head’.
The central to COADY’s practice is exploration of oscillation between manic and focused emotional states.
Coady's technically complex and detailed pills sculptures, are the representation of control and focus state, whereas Coady’spaintings are manifestation of manic and overwhelming state. Despite the popularity of COADY’s pill sculptures her art practice is rooted in painting. 'Mind Your Head' is an exhibition that completes the dialogue of two artistic expressions and presents COADY’s practice to the audience as a whole.
The body of work has been created over the last couple of years, each depicting an emotional state of the artist at that time. The timing to present these paintings couldn’t be more fitting, as in the last 2 years society has endured extreme mental challenges, Mind Your Head is an honest conversation about the complexities and challenges of a human mind.
